Hello Hopers!

At Table of Hope, we've always believed that serving a meal is only part of helping someone. Every person we meet has a unique story, different experiences, and different challenges. If we truly want to make a lasting impact, we first have to listen.

That's why we've started something new.

Over the past several weeks, our team has begun conducting interviews with members of the homeless and low-income community throughout Dallas. So far, we've spoken with around 15 individuals, each willing to share a part of their story and help us better understand the challenges they face every day.

These conversations can last anywhere from one minute to fifteen minutes. Some people prefer to be on video, some are comfortable with audio only, and others simply allow us to write down their responses. No matter the format, every interview is conducted only with permission and always after offering a meal. If someone chooses not to participate, we completely respect their decision—we're still there to serve them with kindness and a warm meal.

Our goal isn't simply to collect stories.

We're trying to learn.

What resources do people need most? What obstacles keep them from finding stable housing? What kinds of support make the biggest difference? By asking these questions directly, we're gaining first-hand insight that no statistic alone can provide.

At the same time, we hope these conversations help remind others that homelessness isn't just a number or a headline. Every person we meet has dreams, struggles, memories, and experiences that deserve to be heard.

Over time, we'll begin looking for patterns in what we're hearing. Those insights can help us make better decisions about future food drives, clothing distributions, and outreach efforts. As our interview collection grows, we also hope to share broader findings that can help our community better understand the needs of those we serve.

We're excited to announce that we'll soon begin sharing individual interviews on our Instagram and TikTok pages. These short videos will give members of our community the opportunity to tell their own stories in their own words. We hope they'll inspire greater understanding, compassion, and meaningful conversations.

This is just the beginning.

Our mission has always been about more than providing meals. It's about building relationships, learning from the people we serve, and continually finding better ways to help.
